Director of the Fantini Club in Cervia, Claudio Fantini has revolutionized the way people enjoy a beach vacation on the Adriatic Riviera of Emilia-Romagna over the years, believing in and investing in hospitality and sport as catalysts for positive energy and motivation.
It all began in 1959, when Claudio's parents bought a bathing establishment on the beach in Cervia. The turning point came in the 1980s, when Claudio Fantini joined the family business. In 1984, on his return from a trip to California, he decided to be the first to bring to Italy a beach sport until then known in the U.S. and South America as "Beach VolleyBall". Thus - in 1984 - Bagno Fantini in Cervia became the official location of the first Beach Volleyball tournament in Europe.
From that moment on, the way of envisioning the beach changed: in 1996, Claudio Fantini founded Sportur, a project that combined the world of tourism with that of sports, changing the vacation experience radically. Thanks to this new vision, Fantini Club became the most sports-oriented beach resort in Italy, a reference point for athletes, champions and fans. Over the years, the likes of Maradona, Pantani and Zanardi have passed through there, just to name a few.
The project that unites the worlds of sports and tourism is now complemented by the other businesses of the Fantini Group: Sportur Club Hotel, a concept-hotel dedicated to active vacations; Sportur Travel, a tour operator offering vacations for every sporting discipline. Finally, the newest addition, Sportur Academy by Fantini Club, the first academy in Italy with the mission of helping companies and their Teams acquire a sport-oriented Mindset, alongside great champions and sports personalities.
