Zanetti is a great entrepreneur and fan of sports at all levels. Former president of Bologna Football Club 1909, he is currently owner and majority shareholder of the basketball club Virtus Pallacanestro Bologna, and his company is one of major global sponsors of professional cycling, with the Trek-Segafredo professional road cycling team.
